This successful project addressed the need for affordable housing near local businesses and transportation. Due to initial budget constraints, a 5,000 sq. ft. site was found, leading to the development of a three-story complex for moderate-income families at the corner of North Eighth Avenue and North Street, on the site of a former apartment building destroyed by fire in 1986. Developed by P. Forest Development and Westhab, Inc., the $1.2 million, award-winning project includes an 11-unit Tudor-style building that revitalizes the area with improved landscaping, serving both residents and the community. Completed on time and within budget, it now houses 28 Mount Vernon residents.
